Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a saucepan, combine the peaches and sugar. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the peaches soften slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Place the butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish and melt it in the preheated oven. Once melted, remove the dish from the oven.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour this batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
- Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter. Again, do not stir.
- Place the dish in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
For the best flavor, use fresh, ripe peaches. If they’re not in season, canned peaches work just as well. The butter creates a rich, golden crust. Ensure it’s evenly melted before adding the batter. Avoid opening the oven door while baking to prevent the cobbler from sinking. A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg can enhance the flavor of the peaches.
