Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Aim for a rectangular shape, about 10x14 inches. Transfer the pastry to the prepared baking sheet.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Follow with the grated Parmesan cheese.
- Arrange the halved cherry tomatoes on top of the cheese layer. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper.
- Gently fold the edges of the puff pastry inward to create a rustic border. Press lightly to seal the edges.
- Brush the beaten egg over the folded edges of the pastry. This will give the tart a beautiful golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
- Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving.
Notes
Use ripe, in-season tomatoes for the best flavor. Customize the cheese or add fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary for enhanced aroma. The tart can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
